We are finding that up to 25% of traffic to home health and physical therapy websites is from mobile devices (i.e. smart phones). This is an important consideration, because many website designs are not phone-friendly. Sprawling text all the way across the width of the site and other problems can make some sites hard to read on mobile devices. Research shows that mobile device users spend more time with a website when it is responsive or adaptive.

Responsive websites are the new industry standard. They automatically resize according to the width of the visitor’s browser. Here is an example of a recent responsive website that we have designed:AuraCare Health. While you are on a desktop computer, there is an easy trick to see how a site responds to varying screen widths. In the upper right hand corner of your browser, there is an icon for “Restore Down.” It’s between the flat line minimize icon and the red X close icon. Click restore down. Then grab the edges of that window and shrink the view until it is a little larger than the screen of a phone. As you shrink the width of your browser, you can watch the website respond.
